About Jared
My name is Jared, and I am an avid outdoorsman. I love all things nature and adventure.
Since I was a kid, I have loved hiking, fishing, and camping. My dad took my brother and I camping every year during our Spring Break, and there was always something significant about being out in the woods, sitting around a campfire that we built ourselves, and sharing stories under the stars.
This annual trip ignited something within me, making me crave more time in nature as I grew up. I joined the Webelos at the age of 10, and this taught me useful skills for the outdoors that I use to this day. The Scouts also taught me about respecting and conserving nature, so that future generations can also enjoy its infinite beauty.
As a young adult, I tried kayaking for the first time on the James River in Southwest Virginia, and I immediately found something I loved that also helped me to appreciate the exceedingly wonderous region of the Blue Ridge where I grew up and spent most of my life, but somehow always managed to take for granted.
I fell in love with kayaking so much that my dad and I decided to start our own kayaking company in 2019 that we still run together now.
I decided to start this blog to share my love and knowledge of the outdoors, recommend equipment and outdoor destinations, and to create guides based on everything I have learned along my amazing journey.
